East Attica
East Attica is the Mesogeia plain that stretches behind Mount Hymettus towards the airport. Gerakas and Glyka Nera are newer suburbs of villas and detached homes, linked to the centre and the airport by the Attiki Odos motorway and the Doukissis Plakentias station. Markopoulo combines a farming town, the Porto Rafti coast and the airport logistics belt; it has no rail service, so daily life depends on a car. Tenants are airport and logistics staff, families after a house with a garden, and summer renters on the coast. It is not for those who want a walkable centre.
